There are nineteen credits designated as fundamental for the purpose of this qualification. These address communication skills and study skills as a means of scaffolding learning for the research required and understanding of democracy and investigative interviewing that are fundamental to the learning required for this qualification. All the Unit Standards designated as Fundamental are compulsory. Seventy credits have been allocated to Unit Standards designated as Core for the purpose of this Qualification, which ensures that the qualification has a strong polygraphy focus.
